What is Refreshing Mercies Ministry?
Refreshing Mercies has been a vision of Mark and Sheryl Douras. This vision took root about a year after their son Jonathan, passed away.
They realized that there are many dates in a deep grieving experience that are hard to face and can be used to draw people closer to Christ. These dates include but are not limited to birthdays, anniversaries of the death, wedding anniversaries, holidays, etc.
Finding answers in the face of loss, tragedy, and transition can be difficult. Finding a place to process and find healing can be just as difficult.
Many retreat centers have pre-planned retreats on set dates, with other groups you don’t know. At Refreshing Mercies, we work with one individual, family, or ministry team at a time. You can be assured of a private setting while at Refreshing Mercies Retreat Center.
We plan a personal schedule around the day or days you really need support and encouragement and have created a setting of peace and comfort with a variety of programs and that are personalized to meet your own needs.
There is a balance of times for solitude as well as activities with your group. Mark and Sheryl will also give direction and instruction in an environment of compassion and individualized care.
Find meditative opportunities and activities in our Prayer Chapel; experience ways to record your journey in our Creative Expression Room; interact and receive instruction in our Gathering Room; experience healing as you enjoy Outdoor Prayer Stations.
You and your group will also receive unique supplies to take with you to continue your healing.

We find it helpful to have video sessions before and after each guest's visit to Refreshing Mercies.
We also provide video counseling to those who find it difficult to come to our facilities.
Speaking / Training
It’s not just a retreat center. Mark and Sheryl are available to speak at your event on issues that families, couples, and ministry teams face today. In addition, Mark speaks on many topics concerning men, and Sheryl speaks for women’s groups.
Pastoral Counseling
Mark and Sheryl are also available to provide pastoral counsel and direction in person or through tools such as Zoom and Skype.
Brochures / Literature / Videos
Refreshing Mercies Ministry has a number of brochures on ministry related topics, grief, pain, chronically ill, and spiritual growth.
Sheryl has written a book called, “Whatever Happened to Mary” which deals with a mother learning to let go, using Mary, the mother of Jesus, as an example.
