A New And Exciting Chapter
For Refreshing Mercies
Many of you remember our son, Jonathan. When he passed away our lives were drastically and painfully changed.
God journeyed with us to a place of healing, and on that journey, He placed a burden on our hearts to minister to other hurting people. 10 years ago, that burden became a reality when we were blessed to begin the ministry of Refreshing Mercies. He provided the perfect home on a beautiful acre of land.
Although the vision of Refreshing Mercies Ministry was originally birthed out of our own grief, it has grown to touch the lives of those who have experienced tragedy, transition, and loss.
The majority of our clients are in ministry, all around the world.
The Lord's faithfulness has always been evident.
Now there is a new and exciting opportunity presented to us. Refreshing Mercies Ministry is moving to Ohio!
For the past nine years, we have tried to be good stewards of our personal finances so that we could pay off the mortgage on our current home, where we host Refreshing Mercies guests.
God has blessed our efforts. We are now in a position to purchase the Ohio home for almost what we will make when we sell our home in Illinois.
This is the home that God has provided for us to purchase.
This home was built in 1850 and
is registered with the local
historical society and is located in Harveysburg, Ohio.
There will be hardly any updates that need to be done, so we will literally be able to start having Refreshing Mercies guests once we unpack.
The home was historically part of the Underground Railroad in the 1800s, which fits nicely with the purpose of Refreshing Mercies...pointing people to the freedom found in Jesus Christ.
Those of you who know Mark know that he has been a long-time student of the American Civil War. Through the years, he has collected artifacts from that time in history, and his collection will work right in with the history of the home.
Another interesting fact is that the name of this home is The Ashley House. Sheryl's great-great-grandfather fought in the Civil War, and his last name was Ashley.
God can be surprising and creative all at the same time.
WHAT DOES GOD HAVE IN STORE
FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS?!
You may ask, Why are you relocating Refreshing Mercies to Ohio?
First of all, we are in our mid-sixties and would like to be closer to our daughter, Elizabeth, and other family members. This home is only 20 minutes from her.
Another important reason involves Refreshing Mercies. This location will be more centrally located for those who come for overnight stays.
We believe that the feel of this new home will take our ministry to the next level of hosting to bring comfort and healing to our guests.
How can you help?
We close on the Ohio house on or before November 24th. But we will not be moving in until we sell the Illinois house.
Currently, Refreshing Mercies Ministry takes up about half of our house.
At our last RMM board meeting, the board decided that the ministry should pay for half of the moving expenses.
The board would like you to consider making a donation or for monthly supporters to give a separate donation, above what you would normally give.
Would you please prayerfully consider how God might want you to help with this major move?
If you do choose to give a donation for our moving project, please indicate "MOVING" on your donation.
